Gary the Water Guy to the rescue! The Water Store Saved a Customer $100 a day!
Some of the people we serve are commercial enterprises who own groups of cottages that are rented out seasonally. The water treatment for these cottages needs to be a monitored system to make sure the water supplied to their guests is bacteria free and safe to drink by the public. We provide equipment that full fills that need.
In addition, the local health department requires that water samples are tested on a monthly basis by an approved laboratory to make sure everything is working correctly. Since no one from this company lives in this area they have hired me to collect and submit the water sample monthly and at the same time check over their extensive water treatment system. It’s a good thing they did.
One great feature that our water softeners and other equipment has is the ability to tell how much water is flowing through the system which helps detect leaks in plumbing. When I arrived yesterday to do my monthly check and get the sample, I noticed that although you could not hear water running there was a lot of water running through the system. In fact the memory on our equipment showed that they were using over 10,000 gallons per day (about 35 times what the average household uses) in spite of the fact that there was only one resident present. So there was a massive leak somewhere!! Sure enough, after checking around I found that the plumbing under one of the cottages had frozen and ruptured and now water was pouring out at a rate of 5 gallons per minute. I accessed the plumbing under the cottage and shut off the water. Emergency Solved!
Although the client was not happy to hear about the leak, they were very happy to know I found the leak, shut off the water to that unit and saved them about $100 worth of water until they get the plumbing fixed!
