Most families shopping for a new home would not complete a purchase without a home inspection.   However, home inspectors do not check water systems to ensure your home has water that is safe or even that the water treatment equipment operates properly. On municipal...

It is usually caused by high humidity or by keeping too much salt in the softener. When the salt gets wet often without being used up the salt begins to bind together.   Over time the salt forms a solid mass at the bottom of the salt tank which stops water from flowing into or out of the salt tank.   This is a very common problem and one of our most frequent source of a  service call!

The following is an estimation of savings for a family of four  that has water with  twelve grains per gallon of water hardness after the installation of a water softener. If your water is harder than this or your household has more than four people...

A couple of years ago a customer called me to check out a problem [caption id="attachment_75" align="alignright" width="140"] A Chemiclal Free Iron/ Sulphur Filter System removes the smell.[/caption] with Sulphur smell  from their water. She mentioned that they had only lived in this house a year or so but the sulphur smell in the water was a big problem.   I tested the water and mentioned that yes it had iron and sulphur in it and she needed an iron/sulphur filter to get rid of the problem.   She said that she wanted to go ahead and purchase the equipment but she wanted it installed as soon as possible, which we did. When I called her a few weeks after the installation to make sure everything was okay with the installation of this equipment she said "you saved my life!"   Her response caught me off guard as it seemed a little extreme so she went on to explain

Many people have water softeners or are considering a water softener but are not sure how they work.   The following is the basic process a water softener goes through to soften your water. Water softeners have two tanks, one that is smaller diameter and is sealed with a control valve at the top, which is called the media tank. The other tank (that looks like a garbage can) has a lid that you open that holds the salt, which is called the brine tank.   Sometimes the smaller tank is actually inside the larger tank.   All of the water in the house runs through a bed of small plastic beads that look like Honey Comb cereal but are a lot smaller.   These beads fill most of the media tank.  As the water is passing over these beads the hardness (the calcium and magnesium) sticks to the beads and is removed from your water.

These  Chemical Free Iron Sulphur Filters  have three main components.   There is an air injector and two tanks.   One tank is topped with an air relief valve and is called the off air tank and the other has a control valve at the...
